I have having these issues on the ethernet connected computer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.Īlso worth mentioning. The computer is new, and the motherboard supports much higher speeds than this.Įverything is brand new. I am quite frustrated by this, and really dont know where to go from here. I bought my own hardware in hopes of seeing better speeds, but apparently that was not the case. When I am actively downloading something through steam or Uplay (or whatever else), I get between 5 - 15 mbps. One router is hardlined to my computer through ethernet, and the other is in the living room with the TV/game systems. I have a CM600 modem, and two google mesh routers.

I am paying for 200mb internet download speed through Mediacom. I am pretty new to this stuff, but I can dig through settings and such with some guidance. Game downloads are full speed as well as usenet.Hello. Dumb cable model doesn't care, just downloads at full speed.Įdit4: Problem appears complete resolved with Tomato firmware and CTF (cut-through forwarding) enabled (Advanced -> Miscellaneous) in the Tomato settings. Well, that’s not necessarily a high speed internet connection, but the results will vary from person to. At our office, the WiFi speeds usually hover between 8 16 Mbps. Well, we wanted to show you how much of a speed improvement we were experiencing and it’s quite noticeable to say the least. I'm convinced that this router is dumb or is conspiring with the applications. Download Speed in Origin: Before vs After. I'm wired to the router.Įdit3: Installed Tomato, may try dd-wrt later, but am still only able to get just over 300 Mbps with Tomato. Disabling the WMM options has allowed me to download 100 Mbps faster. Maybe seeing a Ubiquiti in my future.Įdit1: QoS has always been disabled. I'm going to be toggling a settings and waiting for the stupid R7000 to apply the change. When a game is downloading, all devices on the network fall under that 200 Mbps limit, not just my PC. It's like the game storefront applications are communicating with the router or something. It's instant, when pausing the Steam/EGS download, the usenet download is suddenly allowed to use all available bandwidth. It's like there's some kind of QoS that I have no control over. I did the bare minimum setup to get it going and rule out any config issues and the problem still exists.
I did a full reset on the R7000 by holding the reset button for 7 seconds.

I've also recently done a clean install of Windows, the issue was there before and is here now. That should rule out a Windows/driver issue. I can't remember the last time I saw a 700 Mbps download from Steam until today. I did what any sane person should've done long ago and connected directly to my cable modem. If I run Steam, Epic Games Store, or and they start downloading, that usenet application gets stuck under that 200 Mbps limit if I pause the download in Steam/EGS/etc., the usenet download jumps back up to +700 Mbps! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!? If I launch Steam and EGS and start a download in both applications, I don't get ~400 Mbps, they try to share 200 Mbps. You need to check your Task Manager (press Ctrl+Shift+Escape and switch to performance tab) to see which component is the issue. When downloading from usenet, I'm able to get well over 700 Mbps sustained, but found something surprising today. Answer (1 of 6): The data you download when installing a game is usually compressed and that requires CPU power and extra disk I/O to decompress. My game downloads from various storefronts have been limited to around 200 Mbps for a while now, I was beginning to think that Comcast was capping just those downloads or maybe the content delivery networks for those sources were limited.
